Perugia, 23 April 2024 – Over 100 “business to business” meetings and the start of international collaborations: the outcome of the Umbria e-mobility Network’s participation in the VTM – Vehicle and Transportation Technology Innovation Meetings, the business convention dedicated to automotive industry which took place last March in Turin.
The results achieved by the Network, present at the event for the first time in an aggregate form in the stand created thanks to the support of the Umbria Region and Sviluppumbria, were illustrated during a press conference organized at the Confindustria Umbria headquarters in Perugia.
The initiative was also an opportunity to present the ongoing projects with the Engineering Department of the University of Perugia.
The meeting was attended by the regional councilor for economic development Michele Fioroni, the head of operational activities of Sviluppumbria Mauro Marini, the professor of the Engineering Department of the University of Perugia Linda Barelli, the president of Umbria e-mobility Network Alessio Damiani and the deputy director of Confindustria Umbria Luca Angelini.
Eight companies from the Cluster participated in the Turin event, presenting their technologies and services for sustainable mobility to sector operators.
“The presence at VTM – highlighted the president of Umbria e-mobility Network Alessio Damiani – marked an important first step in promoting the Network, offering a unique opportunity for growth to our companies which had the opportunity to present themselves in aggregated at one of the important events at the international level. Participation in the event allowed companies to present their solutions to a vast audience of experts and to establish new contacts with potential customers, investors and commercial partners”.
At the stand of the Umbrian Network, which received a visit from a delegation of Swedish companies, new collaboration opportunities were explored with CIM 4.0 (Competence Industry Manufacturing 4.0) and the Polytechnic of Turin.
The regional councilor Michele Fioroni expressed great satisfaction with the participation of the Cluster in the VTM, a young Cluster, made up of companies that belong to different segments of the supply chain but which is effectively promoting a unitary brand and which the Region will continue to support also as an important collective learning tool and driver for regional sustainable transition.
The CEO of Sviluppumbria Michela Sciurpa highlighted the importance of supporting the regional Cluster through participation in international events, to promote the Umbrian production fabric that operates in the sustainable mobility sector, ensuring support for business opportunities for companies of the network.
During the press conference, the collaboration started by Umbria e-mobility Network with the Engineering Department of the University of Perugia was also discussed.
The partnership, illustrated by Professor Linda Barelli, promotes research projects to develop innovative solutions, intensifies relationships between the academic world and the industrial sector, stimulates local development with targeted experimentation to transform innovation and technological transfer into visible actions that can strengthen the understanding between researchers, students and the industrial sector.
Promoted by Confindustria Umbria with the support of Umbria Export, Umbria Digital Innovation Hub and the Umbria Chamber of Commerce, the Network brings together 17 companies and has a consolidated turnover of almost 600 million euros and 2,300 employees.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the companies that are part of the Cluster: Angelantoni Test Technologies, ART, Asterisco Tech, Cimarredi, Eles semiconductor equipment, Emotion, EN4, Faluomi, König Metall GT, Meccanotecnica Umbra, Modulo, Privé, Sitem, Solaredge E-mobility, Synergie Cad Instruments, Terex Italia and Xepics Italia.
